At least 120 species of bird eat the fruits of elderberries, including robins and waxwings. The berries make great jelly, jam, pie, juice, syrup or wine. Elderberry fruit is high in Vitamin C. Elderberry plants fruit more heavily when you plant two different varieties close together. ‘York’ produces the largest size and quantity of fruit of all the elderberries and does well paired with ‘Adams’. A great rain garden plant with versatile habitat value.
