This broadleaf evergreen nativar is a versatile plant that tolerates road salt, seaside conditions, and sandy soils. Great for riparian buffers and rain gardens. Habitat friendly, it serves as year-round cover while its black berries provide an excellent food source for birds.
Ilex glabra’s small, broad, evergreen leaves and dense branching respond well to being sheared into hedges, globes, and spires. Deer-resistant and ideal for creating a hedge, native inkberries grow faster than non-native boxwood and provide cover and food for native birds.
