Viking Black Chokeberry

$48.00

Latin Name : Aronia melanocarpa ‘Viking’

Showy, fragrant mid-May flowers give rise to flattened heads of green fruit that turn black in late summer. Its edible, nutrient-rich fruit provides food for native birds and wildlife and can be used in preserves, jams, fruit drinks, and even wine to take full advantage of its great taste and strong health benefits. Deep green foliage turns fiery red as the weather cools. Thrives even in the least fertile, roughest landscape spots.

In-Depth Description

This nativar is an open, upright, spreading, and somewhat rounded deciduous shrub. ‘Viking’ was developed in Sweden as an orchard plant for its fruit.
