In-Depth Description
Hydrangea arborescens, commonly known as Smooth Hydrangea, Wild Hydrangea, Sevenbark, or in some cases, Sheep Flower, is a species of flowering plant in the family Hydrangeaceae. It is a small-to-medium sized, deciduous shrub native to the eastern United States. Smooth Hydrangea flowers heavily in June through August with a scattering of additional flowers appearing into September. Flowers dry right on the shrub, giving additional beauty all fall and winter. Smooth Hydrangea works well massed as a hedge or in the garden, and can be naturalized in woodlands, native gardens, or rain gardens.
