Building Resilient Local Communities with LID

NWCD is partnering with towns in our district to implement Low Impact Development (LID) demonstration projects. LID has many forms, one being simple rain gardens. While promoting Low Impact Development through a sequence of demonstration projects, NWCD is using these projects to advance awareness of building resiliency in local communities.

This project is made possible by funding from CT Community Foundation. NWCD is currently in the second year of project funding, with a goal to contribute towards meaning projects in SustainableCT towns.

Thanks to the Town of Watertown for their support of this project, and the Taft School volunteers that came to help install the garden! This garden helps clean the stormwater runoff from the nearby parking lot and roof drains from the nearby building.
