In-Depth Description

Native to the Florida Panhandle and Georgia to Louisiana, in damp woods and along river banks. Forms colonies from a shallow root system. Susceptible to sunscald, chlorosis in alkaline soils, and winter dieback. Many weak, brittle canes are easily broken in wind and ice. Oakleaf Hydrangea tolerates dry rocky soil and moist conditions.
