Program Administrator
The Northwest Conservation District (NWCD) is a not-for-profit (501c3), equal opportunity environmental organization helping 34 towns in Northwest Connecticut to conserve natural resources and promote sustainable planning. We are seeking a full-time Program Administrator to perform a variety of responsibilities under the supervision of the Executive Director, as follows:
- Financial: coordinate annual funding request to municipalities; coordinate annual solicitation and maintain private donation records; manage, track, and report grant expenses and deliverables.
- Office Management: maintain District insurance policies; file annual incorporation papers with State of CT; maintain District-wide mailing/contact lists (e.g. municipal staff/commissioners, legislators, email list subscribers, donors, interested citizens); order supplies as needed; ensure office equipment is in working order and coordinate servicing as needed.
- Public Relations: respond to questions, mail information or resource materials; answer routine correspondence; coordinate bulk mailings, including newsletters, event notices and annual solicitations; write/send press releases for District events; assist with development of District publications and coordinate with printer; assist with periodic e-notices sent through Mail Chimp and use Social Media tools for publicity, in collaboration with other staff.
- Event Planning: coordinate Annual Meeting, including legal notice, publicity, venue/room set-up; together with other staff; participate in the planning and coordination of annual plant sale fundraiser; solicit interest in and coordinate educational/outreach programming throughout the district.
- Participate in team development of educational materials including newsletters, power point presentations, publicity for NWCD programs, promotional materials.
- Assist in maintaining visibility in towns especially town land-use commissions.
- Assist in seeking and applying for grants to fund more programs.
The successful candidate will:
- Have two years or more of related experience, preferably with a nonprofit organization
- Have associate degree or higher
- Have knowledge of/interest in conservation
- Be detail oriented; highly organized; flexible; self-directed and able to complete projects with limited supervision; excellent time-management skills; able to multi-task and meet deadlines
- Have strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and familiar with social media platforms. Knowledge of QuickBooks and InDesign is a plus.
- Enjoys working in a team environment.
Pay will be commensurate with qualifications.
$25-30 per hour.
Minimum 24 hours/week. Considered full-time at 32 hours/week.
