Latin Name: Betula nigra ‘Heritage’ (Clump)
‘Heritage’ is a fast-growing nativar with layers of brown bark peeling back to reveal white inner bark. Glossy, light green leaves turn yellow in fall and distinctive bark that starts reddish-pink and fades through cinnamon to a creamy tan-white with age, and which peels in thickly curled strips.

Chickadees, sparrows, wild turkeys, pine siskins, finches, and other birds love the seed. Thrives in most soils except very dry, ok for moist to wetter areas. This nativar is more disease-resistant than the straight native as it is not plagued as heavily by leaf spot or borers.
